Impulse Powerlifting Coaching

The flagship service of Impulse Powerlifting: comprehensive coaching for ambitious powerlifters striving for long-term performance development through individualised programming, technical feedback, velocity-based training, competition support and full performance analysis.

Impulse Powerlifting Coaching is designed for lifters who want more than a spreadsheet. The aim is to create a coaching process that supports performance while also accounting for the person behind the programme.

Training is planned and adjusted around your individual goals, competition demands, technical development, recovery, lifestyle, motivation and training environment. This allows the coaching process to remain flexible without becoming chaotic, and structured without becoming rigid.

A central part of this service is the weekly check-in. These regular discussions are used to review training progress, technical execution, recovery, motivation, lifestyle demands and the wider context in which training takes place. Good coaching requires honest feedback, shared reflection and an understanding of what is happening outside the training numbers.

This coaching approach is systemic and ecological. Performance is not shaped by volume and intensity alone. It is also shaped by stress, sleep, confidence, routines, decision-making, relationships, work demands and the environment in which training occurs. For this reason, coaching is not limited to programming. It also focuses on helping you build the habits, behaviours and training environment required to become a more consistent and capable performer.

As always: long-term consistency beats short-term intensity.

All Impulse Powerlifting Coaching athletes receive access to velocity-based training through OVR Performance. An OVR Performance Velocity Unit is provided on loan for the duration of the coaching process, allowing bar velocity to be monitored directly in training. This supports load selection, helps track performance trends and improves decision-making across the training cycle.

In addition, a free Powerlifting Performance Analysis is included every six months. This provides a structured review of your powerlifting performance profile and may include competition lift analysis, load-velocity profiling with the OVR Performance Velocity Tracker, force plate diagnostics with the Meloq Easy Base force platform, asymmetry assessment, anthropometrics and key muscle group strength assessment where appropriate. The goal is to identify individual strengths, limitations and development priorities, and to translate these findings into practical training decisions.

Competition support is also a key part of the coaching process. This includes competition preparation, attempt selection strategy, guidance around meet-day decision-making and a structured post-competition review. The aim is not only to perform well on the day, but to learn from each competition and use that information to guide the next stage of development. This service is best suited to competitive or ambitious powerlifters who want a long-term coaching relationship, detailed support and a complete approach to strength development, performance habits and competition readiness.

Includes:
Individualised programming, weekly check-ins, regular training adjustments, video-based technical feedback, velocity-based training with an OVR Performance Velocity Unit provided on loan, six-monthly Powerlifting Performance Analysis including Meloq Easy Base force platform diagnostics where appropriate, competition preparation, attempt selection support, meet-day guidance, post-competition review, communication and reflective coaching throughout the process.
